good saturdays are good to find; finally moving
We took good advantage of living in SF yesterday. Thanks to a playdate invite for Stella, Tammy and I had some time to zip around the city at our own pace, and do some shopping for our still empty new apartment. We got a great deal on a floor lamp – floor model with a slight defect. “50% off? Don’t mind if we do!”
My goal for the day was to see a stellar collection of photos being auctioned from the estate of Margaret W. Weston, which included several Edward Weston’s, plus Paul Strand, Ansel Adams, Man Ray, Robert Frank, Irving Penn, and Diane Arbus (The Twin’s are expected to fetch $500k – Bonus link: Interesting trivia/backstory on that photo.). (More pictures here.)
After that we were lucky to get a table at Blue Plate, now my favorite restaurant. Yum!
Today – I bought tickets for the Bright Eyes, Gillian Welch, and Jim James show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Can’t wait to see Mike Mogis rock in front of five thousand folks.
This week – I fly back to Lincoln on Wednesday night. Packing up the rest of our belongings in a U-haul on Thursday, and then hauling back to SF with my dad as co-pilot.
Can anyone reccomend a good web-based road-trip planner?

Twitterage
Calacanis sez…: “Soon Twitter will carry video, audio, and photos… when that happens Twitter replaces IM and email and flickr 50% of the time.”
I’m very interested in seeing how they can up the ante, maintain this madcap momentum, and how their business model will develop
Personally, it hasn’t proven too useful. I’m just seeing everyone’s SXSW updates now, which just makes me wish I was there!
But, it’s still brilliant if only as a free way to send mass SMS updates – struggling rock bands and advertising students who make their websites, take note

Home, new home
The recent long silence here has been due to a move to a new apartment. We are the tan box on the corner, there across the street:
We were greeted by a fair sized earthquake the night of our move in. We’re on a big old rock of a hill on the border of Noe Valley and the Castro, so I’m not so much worried about quakes. The poor saps in the Marina, or SOMA, being built on land-fill are pretty much screwed in big quakes, though.
We just got net access last night, so I have an outrageous amount of feed reading to do – or maybe I’ll just “mark all as read” and start over.
Anyway, more to come on the move and other stuff to come.
