Mojo - iTunes sharing for Mac OS X

Thomas Hawk points us to Mojo, a new file sharing system. Looks like a good rainy day project.

We’ll see how the RIAA responds to this one. Music sharing, taping, and lending, has always been a part of how people discover new music.

  1. Although I have yet to use it myself, I think Mojo’s saving grace is that it doesn’t work like BitTorrent, where anything you share is shared with everyone else. In their FAQs, it states, “the only people who can connect to your Mojo library are users you have approved.” So, if I’m only sharing my iTunes library with just a handful of friends that I’ve approved, it would seem like a waste of time to pursue any legal action against them.

Exactly. And further, since it is a closed network, if you aren’t sharing files with folks affiliated with the RIAA, how would they know in the first place?

Only by some kind of ISP spying, I suppose!
