the twitter economy
April 6th, 2008 cata-wha?
Here is an interesting take on the economics of twitter.
I like how the author points out that you are rewarded just by participating regardless of your follow/follower ratio. That being the case, the rich/poor analogy doesn’t fit so well, though point #7 (”Once the rich get rich, they always get richer; those with popular feeds continue to snowball followers through little work of their own.”) is very true!
My questions:
Does the twitter economy grow endlessly? Is there an inevitable crash?

not that kind of tunnel
April 1st, 2008 cata-wha?
This is what made muni backed up this morning:
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A man is facing charges of driving under the influence, after San Francisco police say he drove his car about two miles into a Muni subway tunnel.
A little bit before 2:00 am this morning, a car entered the West Portal Muni tunnel. It is a tunnel that is used just for trains. Luckily the rail line doesn’t run in the middle of the night. Police say the man tried to run away, but they caught him. The suspect’s Nissan Maxima was towed out of the tunnel.
Two long time Muni employees said the driver made it further into the tunnel then anyone they can remember. The driver made it two miles before the tunnel narrowed to such a degree that the car got wedged in there.
