1. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I was given the first book in Pullman’s triology (Northern Lights (UK)) by an enthusiastic English teacher. I was interested in books and literature at that point but i’d never read anything that, by the power of its narrative, completely took hold of my imagination. I’ve been deeply attached to books ever since.
2. Mrs. Dalloway
An obvious choice but a choice nonetheless. It changed the way i viewed writing and propelled me throughout my teens to read and take in Modernist literature (culminating in a dissertation). Perhaps superficially, i became fascinated by the Woolf mythology
Two things, and coincidently, two books.
