Bring Your Own Big Wheel 2010
Another Easter, another Big Wheel race. This time, a really wet one! The rain didn’t prevent a good crew of riders from donning costumes and sliding down Vermont street (the real crookedest street in San Francisco) on plastic toys of all kinds.
Stella and I got a good spot at the side of a curve where riders were sure to crash a lot, which makes for better pictures, of course. (Don’t worry, Stella was well out of the way of the danger.)
It’s really silly, stupid event, but it’s one of those things I’ve latched on to here in San Francisco. See you there next year.

GOP-bagged
(image via : Look At This Fucking Teabagger)
A good read from Paul Krugman : Going to Extreme
In the short run, Republican extremism may be good for Democrats, to the extent that it prompts a voter backlash. But in the long run, it’s a very bad thing for America. We need to have two reasonable, rational parties in this country. And right now we don’t.
And, another good read from the Times : Tea Party Lights Fuse for Rebellion on Right
“It’s either you’re with us or you’re the enemy,” he said.

reboot ad infinitum
Stumbled across I’m not here to make frenemies via merlinmann. I read several posts, and I subscribed to the feed.
And it highlighted something which still amazes me with the combination of personal publishing (+ Google’s insatiable appetite to index) : Good, new things will see the light (if you are looking), and cool things will happen if you participate.
It made me wonder, why I don’t I write here more? I’ve never considered myself a blogger or writer – more like a perpetual tinkerer/learner of digital tools. But, I really don’t think I ever installed blog software to keep up on software updates.
I admire when people put themselves out there like the writer at frenimes has – whether it’s writing, art, music – whatever.
For the most part, I’ve been standing on the digital sidelines more often than not. I’ve been posting here on and off for 5+ years, so why the perpetual fits and starts? If nothing else, maybe I’d become a better writer.
Yeah, I get busy. Yeah, I’d love to have more ‘offscreen’ time and hobbies. But mostly, I think I get stuck on appearing as (or becoming) one of those blowhard phony self-obsessed writer types – even though there are many examples of people who I follow who aren’t like that at all. I guess I psyche myself out.
Kind of like watching my daughter hesitate jumping into the pool. I’ve been doing that for 5 years.
I’m not going to call it a resolution, but an observation I’m putting out there. In any case, thanks for the nudge, shellysurname.
